RU 800 S in operation on DB's rail network - Mediaportal of Deutsche Bahn - The RU 800 S engineering train owned by rail construction company Swietelsky is a combination machine for continuous track renewal and ballast bed cleaning used among others on DB's rail network. At 177 metres in length and 650 metric tons in weight, the engineering train from Austrian manufacturer Plasser & Theurer can renew up to two kilometres of track per day. The huge "all-in-one" machine takes care of everything – from sleepers to ballast.
